Exploring Liverpool - Smithdown Road

By sophiebk 22 Apr 2021

Smithdown Road has long been the epicentre of student life here in Liverpool. Over the past couple of years the area has had a new lease of life with great independents opening up and more on the way ... here's our top spots to grab a bite in the area.

Towards the top end of Smithdown (past the little Tesco) is the fabulous Picnic ... healthy bowls, wraps and bites to suit everyone. Definitely up near the top of our list for the area!

The Bold Street favourite has an equally popular spot on Smithdown. Guaranteed chilled vibes, great food and delicious drinks whether you're there day or night! This is our go to for a chilled catch up with friends.

Described as the 'key change that took Smithdown’s restaurants up a notch' - Belzan is a super stylish bar and bistro with an eclectic seasonal menu. We'd definitely recommend this as a stop if you’re looking to impress, or just be impressed!

One of the biggest venues in the area with an amazing beer garden, seriously good pizzas and showing sport – what more could you want?

Maggie Fu

Maggie Fu are a family owned, independent Asian Restaurant with a truly delicious menu. Great portion sizes too - you've got to try it all!

The Watering Can

Not technically Smithdown ... but just up the road and next door to Greenbank, is this dreamy brunch spot! Set in gorgeous surroundings of Greenbank Park this really is a winner any time of year.

Believe the hype, this chicken really is better than Nandos ... and the Roast is one of the best you'll get in the area! There’s some great veggie options like the Superfood Salad and Spring Greens, too.

Some other solid Smithdown Staples are:
